Human Remains Detection (HRD)​

Human Remains Detection K9s, often called Cadaver dogs, are trained to detect and indicate the presence of the various odors generated by human decomposition.  The dogs are able to detect very small amounts of odors and can even indicate if the odor is from a buried or elevated source.  HRD K9s receive extensive training in identifying and locating various types of sources at different levels of decay. They are useful not only in providing closure to families, but also in assisting police as they work to make our communities safer, even after it becomes a “Cold Case.”
