Area Search

K9s trained in Area Search, also referred to as “Live Find,” locate any live human within their search area. The K9s are trained to cover the area very quickly. Once a person is located in their area, the K9 provides a trained indication to their handler. The trained indication could be something as simple as barking until the handler arrives, or it could involve the K9 returning to the handler so they can lead him or her to the person.

 

Area Search K9s cover large areas much quicker and with far fewer resources than large teams of ground searchers.  Area Search Teams are used locate missing people in wilderness areas, buildings, and in natural disaster locations.
