Trailing

Trailing K9s use a scent article and the last known location to follow the odor of a missing person to their current location.  Their ability to distinguish between the scents of individuals allow them to follow a specific person’s trail through areas contaminated with the scent of other people. Trailing K9s can reliably follow the scent of a missing person hours, and sometimes days, after he or she went missing.  The dogs are trained to follow scent wherever it may go, including through woods, congested city centers, and even through water.
