It All Starts as a Flanker

Don’t have a dog but still want to serve? We need you as a Flanker.

Flankers are trained in navigation (both GPS-based and map & compass), communications, operational safety, search techniques, crime scene preservation, odor theory, etc. When deployed to the field, they are responsible for everything the handler needs. It’s a lot of responsibility.

Flanking is also a great opportunity to be of critical service relatively quickly after joining the team. The best part is that we will train you in everything you need to know. Our program is designed to take someone with zero search and rescue experience and make them a contributing member.

Your Flanker training is crucial in its own right, but it’s also foundational to future success as a Handler. This is where you learn the essence of K9 Search and Rescue.

Everyone on MARK9 starts as a Flanker and continues to operate as one for their entire career. Additionally, some of our most valuable members have rewarding careers operating solely as Flankers. They’re a crucial part of our team, and we simply could not operate without them.

MARK9 Search & Rescue provides 24/7 no-cost support to local, state, and federal agencies requiring highly skilled K9s to locate missing persons. Our motto is "Always Ready, Ever Able."
